I have been slacking off from a bit of everything these days. I havent been running in at least 2 weeks and I got an email today regarding my run telling me that I have 6 weeks left to train before it happens. I need to get my ass in gear! Ive been so unmotivated lately and Im not sure why. The weather has been getting a bit warmer, the days are noticably getting longer (read: its no longer still dark when I leave for work in the morning) and I have been quite busy, but I just cant seem to get my act together. As for the running, you would think that when I last ran and hit a personal best (well I only know this b/c of my Nike+) of 2 miles in 20 minutes that it would keep me motivated to continue on. But evidently not. BOO!!!
Its February, in my opinion the longest month of the year although in actuality its the shortest month. And I feel like I need to do something to get through this month of dreary winter weather but what? I have 2 weeks left of my actin class and then what? Oh I quit yoga, I hated it. Ashtanga yoga...not for this lady! Ive really been thinking about taking Spanish lessons again but that costs money and right now I am on a tight budget. So what can I do for fee that will get me motivated and keep me interested?
I joined a book club. I will be attending my 1st meeting on 22 February. The book we are reading is called
One Day by David Nicholls. Its been on many best sellers lists and I have heard great reviews on it. I actually picked it up on Amazon before I joined the book club and thought, hey maybe its a sign I should join this book club as I have been thinking about it. Its a "girly" book club and I think it will be fun. I never know who I could meet!
Hmm...what else has been going on?
Acting class has been interesting. Its a bit of a mixed bag, people who dont have a lot of experience and people will some great talent. A few weeks back we worked on a scene from
Macbeth and our teacher had me and my Macbeth running around playing a game of cat and mouse as well as a challenge of seeing who could push the other all the way to the wall with our strength. By the time I was to start my speech I was panting. Evidently some good things came out of us from this exercise but I also walked away with an arm full of bruises...guess that goes along with the territory. Being in class really makes me miss my old acting class in New York. I miss the people and I miss my teachers! I learned so much from Terry and he knew what I was capable of and what I needed to work on. It hard given that this is only a 6 week class and the teacher doesnt get much time to get to know you.
I got tickets to see Kevin Spacey play
Richard III at the Old Vic. It is part of the final year of Sam Mendes' The Bridge Project. I have seen 3 of his shows in the last 2 years as part of The Bridge Project but I have to admit I think I am most excited about this one. Its not until July but I cannot wait. I needed to get tickets right away because I think it will sell out. I think Kevin Spacey is a genius. I just watched Se7en the other day too, he is amazing it in. He really can do no wrong in my book! Needless to say I am thrilled!
Also I booked a holiday back to Boston this May. I am looking forward to being able to see my family and friends and not have to worry about the snow putting a wrench in all my plans. Im not quite sure what is in store but I know its going to be a lot of fun :)
Thats where I am at these days. Sorry I dont have much excitment going on. Soon, I promise!
